Description

This is the first of the Regional Webinar Series to inform insurance agents, lenders, real estate professionals, floodplain administrators, and other stakeholders of changes to the National Flood Insurance Program. This webinar will focus on changes to those communities with new maps.

Background: Congress passed the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 and the Homeowners Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014 (HFIAA) in an effort to strengthen the NFIP and ensure the NFIP's fiscal soundness. The reform addresses mapping, rate-setting through expert consultation, reports and studies and applying an annual surcharge to all policyholders.

Today the program is focused on the changes being implemented: adjusting premium increases, issuing new rates, map updates, supporting mitigation, and ensuring advocacy to connect policyholders with the information to understand the program.

FEMA Regions 6, 8, and 9 are offering on-line events using Adobe Connect. Insurance agents, lenders, real estate professionals, floodplain administrators, and other stakeholders can register to attend one of these sessions by selecting the date you want to attend. Registration is limited, so please sign up early and feel free to share with others professionals.

The link to the webinar and the conference call in information will be emailed to you prior to the webinar.
